Updates for Boaters: Sea Doo Loans, Special Event Restrictions, New Ramps

The boating season has been underway for a while but is set to ramp up as the school and Christmas-New Year holidays get underway followed closely by Australia Day in late January. There will be many new boat owners heading to the waterways and both novices and highly experienced boaters should be aware of some of the latest updates. For those hoping to get their hands on a new jet ski this season, the news is looking good from Sea Doo. We’ll give you the info along with how we can assist with Sea Doo loans.

Stocks of Sea Doo Reportedly Available

According to an article on boatsales, the Australian market will soon have stock of new Sea Doo PWCs. This has apparently come about due to supply chain issues which caused delays in getting the machines into the north American boat market in time for their peak boating season.

So those PWCs are apparently coming to Oz. That should be excellent news for jet ski and PWC buyers as the market has been short on supply due to massive demand over the past few years. Due of course to the pandemic!

Buyers interested should contact JSW Powersports as they are the biggest dealer for the brand in Australia. Arranging pre-approved finance for Sea Doo loans through Jade Finance can be a sensible move to ensure keen purchasers secure limited availability models.

We provide finance for Sea Doo PWCs and other brands of jet skis with our Secured Jet Ski Loan.  No deposit finance is a possibility and we individually source and negotiate each loan to ensure the cheapest rates and most agreeable finance terms are achieved.

Pre-approved Sea Doo loans will have the same interest rate as a loan which is applied for after the PWC purchase. There is no obligation. So if the model or the price is not for you, the Sea Doo loans offer simply expires. To match the price quoted with estimated loan repayments use our Finance Calculator.

Event Restrictions – Sydney Harbour

Sydney Harbour is a magnet for boaters especially on three particular dates in summer – Boxing Day for the Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race, on NYE for the world-famous fireworks and for the Australia Day celebrations on January 26. To control the flotilla, marine authorities have special conditions in place as to where boats can access and where they can drop anchor.

For the yacht race start, exclusion zones are in place which boaters should update themselves on. There are changed restrictions in place for NYE on the harbour and all the details are available at the event website.

Certain areas are out of bounds to unauthorised boats and Balls Head, Bradley’s Head and the eastern zone from Cockatoo Island are exclusion areas. If you’re intending to collect your guests from a wharf in the harbour, we recommend you check on wharf closures. Many will be closed from early afternoon and the roads leading to wharves may also be closed.

Those on the water are advised to stay up to date with what’s happening on channel 13 and channel 17 on their VHF radio.

Victorian Ramp Upgrades

Thanks to work from local councils and Better Boating Victoria quite a few ramps in the state have undergone recent upgrades to increase accessibility. This will open up more options for Victorian boaters to enjoy the waterways. If undecided where to head this summer, take some inspiration from the boating trails guide.

Safety – the number 1 priority!

  • Before heading out always ensure you have sufficient lifejackets for all those on your boat.
  • Before the first trip of the season, check that all renewable items such as flares have not expired.
  • Organise repairs to covers as La Nina plans to stick around until the early part of 2023. That can mean more storms.
  • Many rivers are still showing the effects of the disastrous floods which hit multiple states recently. Hazards could be floating just below the surface and water conditions may not be suitable for swimming. So take care!
  • Stay in touch with the local marine authority and with the Bureau of Meteorology for the latest updates on the weather.
